You certainly can’t accuse “Rund um den Tegernsee” (around Tegernsee) of being timeless. But thanks to its incredibly charming design—apparently a tongue-in-cheek homage to the “Heimat” films of the 1960s—this carousel has made countless Bavarian children’s eyes light up over the past few decades. The caterpillar ride remains etched in visitors’ memories above all for its waterfall, fountains, and—most of all—the spitting witch. One would wish for such humorous theming in more rides.
